English cartoonist who created the acclaimed experimental science-fiction series The Adventures of Luther Arkwright during the 1980s, and became one of the most influential of the 2000 AD artists. He has written and illustrated a variety of series and graphic novels, mostly but not entirely fantasy, including The Tale of One Bad Rat and Heart of Empire.
